Solar Design

Custom Designed for Your Home

Each home is unique and our first step in customizing a design for you is viewing your home via satellite imagery to determine if the orientation and pitch of the roofs on your home make you a good candidate for solar.  In order to properly size your system and prepare a preliminary estimate for you, we review one of your recent electric bills that show your previous 12 months of usage.

We typically discuss this preliminary analysis with you over the phone or by email, and follow up with a visit to your home if you wish to proceed with a more detailed estimate.  During this on-site visit, we measure your roof and assess its condition, shading, and other design considerations in order to develop a detailed estimate for you.

How Solar Works

Solar (also known as photovoltaic or PV) systems harness the energy of the sun and convert it to electrical energy.  The sun’s rays are converted to DC electricity by the solar modules.  Several modules are wired in series and comprise a string.  Several strings are then wired in parallel and connected to an inverter that converts the DC power to AC for use in your home.

Your system is then “grid-tied” to the utility system so that you can purchase power from the utility at night, or when you consume more electricity than your system produces.   When your system generates more electricity than your home consumes, you sell this excess electricity to the utility through a program called “NetMetering”.
